A Peer Educator is someone who is trained to educate others of a similar age. Benefits of becoming a Peer Educator include the opportunity to develop new skills and experience that will help in your personal development and look great on your CV. Mind Map Peer Educators receive training in mental health awareness and communication skills. 


Peer Educator Role Description

 · Deliver workshops to young people aged 11-21 on a range of mental health related topics, including Intro to Mental Health, Anxiety & Stress, Body Image & Self Esteem, Depression, Bullying, and Self Harm. Workshops usually take place between 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

· Develop new and existing workshops to reflect the expressed areas of interest of the young people.

· Attend monthly peer educator meetings and 1:1 supervisions, giving you the opportunity to reflect on your experience and identify training and development needs.

· Influence and inform the development of the Mind Map project through providing consultation on issues affecting young people.

· Work within the boundaries of the Mind Map policies and procedures.

· Deliver at least 6 workshops during your time as a peer educator.

· Attend initial training to prepare you for the role. This covers topics including mental health awareness, classroom management, workshop design, public speaking skills and health and safety.

· Attend ongoing training as appropriate.

· Provide the Youth Development Officer with verbal and written feedback on training and workshop sessions.
