We work in a safe and sensitive way to support all people who have experience of mental distress to access physical activity and gain from the benefits of physical and mental wellbeing.

The Healthy Minds Project is one of 35 Time to Change projects funded by Big Lottery, which involve people with mental health needs in a wide variety of physical activities, improving mental and physical wellbeing, and breaking down the barriers of stigma and discrimination. We work with you to run activities that you tell us you would like to try ....so tell us what you would like to have a go at!

How do I join?

If you have suffered from mental health distress and think you would benefit from getting involved in a physical activity , please get in touch with us so we can find out what your needs and requirements are. You need to be 16 or over to join Healthy Minds.

You will meet with the Healthy Minds Team and register to become a Healthy Minds member. Meetings are informal and you can bring along a key worker, friend or a family member.

Once you begin attending sessions a member of staff will always be available to offer support, encouragement and answer any of your questions.

After a 3 month and 6 month period the Healthy Minds Team will meet you again to check on your progress.

Who will coach me?

All Healthy Minds staff and freelancers have undergone a tailored programme of mental health equality and awareness training. Staff are trained sport professionals who can support you and give you advice on your fitness and development.
