Brent Mind Housing Service is a supporting People level B supported housing provider offering high quality services which enable people with mental health problems to move towards independence.

Houses managed by Brent Mind

We manage fourteen supported houses, including semi independent self contained flats with floating support. Our houses are located in the London Borough of Brent, i.e. Willesden, Harlesden, Kilburn, Queens Park, Neasden and Cricklewood. Thirteen of these properties are owned by local Housing Associations and one by Brent Mind. Some are owned by Paddington Churches Housing Association and some by Stadium Housing Association.

They all have separate bedrooms with shared use of common areas including bathroom, kitchen, living room and garden. All houses are fully furnished with cooker, fridge, washing machine, kitchen equipment, television and bedroom furniture provided. All houses have between 3 to 5 people sharing. Some houses are men or women only and some are mixed. Some are also ethnic specific.

Housing Related Support

  • Resettlement Workers - support tenants through their journey of recovery by using a person centred planning approach to help individuals to create change in their life and in the community.

  • Keyworker -a member of staff who helps you to manage your tenancy and identify other support you may want.

  • Co-Keyworker -a second member of staff who helps you if your Keyworker is away.

  • Person-Centred Support Plan - a plan incorporating your dreams and aspirations, which your Keyworker will help you to achieve. This plan will develop your learning and creativity whilst help you on your journey of recovery; by empowering and promoting social inclusion, improving your coping skills and promoting independence.

  • Recovery Star - tool that we use throughout your stay at Brent Mind to chart your progress.

  • You will also be provided with specialist EET workers who can work with you to enhance your Employment, Education and Training potential as part of your support.

All tenants will meet their allocated Keyworker once a month to discuss your Support Plan. You will also receive weekly visiting support from our experienced staff.

Service User Involvement:

  • You have the opportunity to attend weekly house meetings where you an be involved with decision making on any issues in the house.

  • We ensure that your views are heard.

  • Service user involvement is at the centre of what we do.

What happens next?

  • Brent Mind will assess your application.

  • If successful you will be invited for an interview with housing staff within 5 working days of receiving your application form.

  • If the interview is successful you and we have vacancies you will be offered accommodation. If we have no vacancies you will be placed on the waiting list.

How long can I stay with Brent Mind?

We aim to move people onto lower support or independent accommodation within two years. Access to move on is by referral through Start Plus.

What happens if my interview is unsuccessful?

Brent Mind will inform you or the reasons why. You will also be provided with information regarding other agencies which may be able to help you.

What if I am not happy?

You will be given the right to appeal in writing within 10 working days. This appeal will be overseen by a senior manager who will inform the referral agency and applicant of the decision within 10 working days.

If the applicant feels they have been wrongly treated and are still dissatisfied after the appeal they can complain by following the Brent Mind complaints procedure.
